Introduction to Tulip
HISTORY
Tulip was founded in 1988 by a consortium of local
voluntary and statutory groups in the London Borough of Haringey. Tulip is a
charitable company limited by guarantee.
OUR OBJECTIVES
To
promote the preservation and safeguarding of mental health and the relief of
persons suffering or having suffered from mental disorder or from any other form
of mental or emotional distress.
OUR MISSION
To
enable our clients to live and function as a part of their community by
supporting them to develop their highest level of self-sufficiency and
self-management.

PARTNERSHIPS
We
have a commitment to and demonstrated success in working with a wide range of
partners from the statutory, housing and charitable sector. Our Housing
Association partners include Circle Anglia, Sanctuary and Family. Our partnership
ethos has enabled us to work successfully across our current four London
boroughs. Other successful cross authority work has included residential
placements from Brent, Camden, Hackney and Kent
KEY ACHIEVEMENTS

Extensive experience of providing community mental health services
for adults with mental health needs tailored to the requirements of service
users, commissioners and other stakeholders. |

Pioneer of innovative models and methods as demonstrated by our
introduction of Assertive Outreach and the Team Approach into the UK with
evidence based outcomes cited in the 1996 Sainsbury’s Centre Review. |

National recognition for best practice and successful engagement
of mental health and Black Minority Ethic clients- cited as the model for
Assertive Outreach within the independent sector as listed in the National
Service Framework. |

Ability to work in a range of inpatient and community settings
including hospitals, prisons, hostels, registered care homes, supported housing
units and day centres. |
 |
Strong partnership ethos with a wide range of organisations as
evidenced in the recent development of a multidisciplinary Assertive Outreach
Service in collaboration with Barnet, Enfield and Haringey Mental Health Trust. |
